An eight-year-old girl was allegedly thrashed by her teacher for not paying up for the Independence Day function in her school in Vaishali district of Bihar.
Komal -- a class II student of Utkramit School, Jandaha -- was allegedly beaten up black and blue by her teacher for failing to pay a paltry sum of Rs 2 as her contribution for the Independence Day celebrations. The girl's right arm was fractured in the incident.
"I told the teacher that my father has not given money today. She asked me then why did you come to school and beat me up with a stick and slippers. My right hand fractured in the process," alleged Komal.
The girl's mother, Sunita Devi, differed from Komal saying the latter was given money to deposit in her school. However, she spent the money elsewhere.
"We had given her money but she bought some eatables. But for this, she was so badly beaten that her hand has swollen so badly," Sunita said.
Komal's parents have lodged a police complaint against the school authorities.
However, after the inhuman treatment meted out to the girl, the authorities of this government school are in a denial mode. The principal dismissed the charges levelled against the teacher, Phool Kumari.
"You can ask anyone, no such incident has taken place in the school," claimed the headmaster of Utkramit School, Vishwanath Singh.
On the other side, the accused is now even denying that she was a teacher of the girl. "I am not teaching in Komal's class and I never asked for money," she claimed.
