At least 18 pilgrims were killed when a truck lost control and ran over them on Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad on Wednesday night, police said. (See Pictures)
The victims, who were on their way to Bhadiyad Peer Dargah at Dholka, had taken a break and were sleeping on the roadside.
The incident took place near Bejwa crossroad on the highway.
While 16 persons died on the spot, some others were injured, police said, adding they were admitted to the VS Hospital in Ahmedabad. Two of them succumbed to injuries. Further investigations are on. (With PTI Inputs)
