The 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 (South) will be presented in Hyderabad on July 2, 2011.
The prestigeous awards which are a recognition of talent in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films will be given away at the awards ceremony at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre at Madhapur.
Popular Telugu film hero Ram Charan Tej who associated himself with a press conference organised to announce about the awards on Friday described the Filmfare awards as the `most genuine and prestigeous film awards in the country'.
"I wish I could bag a Filmfare award every year," he said hoping that he would be able to surpass his father Chiranjeevi's tally of eight awards, much sooner than him.
Chief executive officer, Worldwide Media, Tarun Rai, said this year, `the black lady' which is the filmfare trophy, would be made from `its original mould, in its original size, weight and design using the same metal, brass'. This would be special as over the years, the Filmfare trophy had undergone changes in its specifications.
Tarun Rai said out of the 500 films in contention for the awards in various categories, 55 had been nominated.
B Ramakrishna, chief operating officer, Andhra Pradesh, Idea Cellular said this was the third year of Idea associating itself with the Filmfare Awards for the South. "This year, Idea will give an opportunity to its subscribers and fans of South Indian cinema to access exclusive mobile content on our 2G and 3G network," he said.
In response to a question from the media about film personality Dasari Narayana Rao's observations that Telugu heroines were not attending awards functions, Ram Charan Tej said: "It is a wrong statement of Dasari garu. I do see a lot of heroines coming to the Filmfare awards functions, which even I attend."
Charan also described the Filmfare awards as `genuine and authentic' apart from being glamorous.
To a question, Charan said he was open to doing multi-starrers with his cousin Allu Arjun and perhaps also with his father Chiranjeevi, provided a good story came his way.
The nominations for the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 (South) were announced in Chennai on May 31, 2011.
