Since Kim Kardashian got engaged to Kris Humphries of the Nets, there have been conflicting reports over whether or not Kim plans on taking her husband's last name once they're legally married (apparently, the question of where Kim's mother, also Kris, purchased the ponies covered in glitter that were present at the proposal, has been booted off of the top spot on the "list of things that need to be answered if mankind is to live with itself"). But early this morning, TMZ reported that Kim will officially be making the switch from Kardashian to Humphries, and she won't even make the compromise of Kardashian-Humphries. This reportedly makes Kris (Kim's mother) very unhappy, and she told Popeater, "I don't think she should take his name and be Kris Humphries. She needs to be Kim Kardashian because she's worked so hard to get where she is." Kris has always been overly protective of the brand that she credits herself for creating for her daughters, so her stance on the switch isn't necessarily shocking. But when she married Olympic runner Bruce Jenner she changed her name from Kardashian to Jenner, so Kim probably (and rightly) deems her mother's opinion as irrelevant, except on the rare occasion that an animal requests to be bedazzled.
